The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu is expected to preside over the plenary of the House today when the House convenes.
The Deputy Speaker presided over the plenary on July 5, 2023.
Since he was elected alongside the Speaker of June 13, 2023, he has since been tenaciously playing his role as the second in command to the Speaker.
Information gathered indicate that the Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas is scheduled to travel out of the country for an official engagement.
As at Monday evening, the office of the Deputy Speaker was a beehive of activities as several aides were working to put finishing touches to ensure that there won’t be any hitches as the Deputy Speaker prepares to hold forth.
The House has been very busy since its inauguration despite the fact that most lawmakers have not settled down as many of them are yet to get their offices set for the job.
The 10th House also has majority of its member being first timers which has further put pressure on the leadership as the 10thassembly prepares to rev to full steam.
The House plenary is expected to convene around 11 am.
