The former Rivers State governor, Nysome Wike, on Thursday, appeared before the Senate to screening as a ministerial candidate.
Wike after reading out his Curriculum Vitae and achievements, noted that his love and passion for Nigeria propelled him to accept the ministerial offer.
He said, “I accepted the call to serve as a ministerial nomination because of my intense desire to serve Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, the legislator representing River State represented by Senator Barinada Mpigi ( PDP, Rivers Southeast) during the cross-examination informed Nigerians that Wike was undoubtedly the best in the state.
He said, “His Excellency the former Governor Nyesom Wike is our best in Rivers State. He is our leader and role model.
“Prestigious senators, we advocate that you should let him just take a bow and go.
“His resume does not do justice to the work that he has done.”
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, afterwards, told him to take a bow and leave.
It is to note that earlier, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, had appraised the former governor stating that he was thrilled by the work he did in Rivers State.
Barau said, “The first time, I got to River State; I was surprised because of the impact of the work that you did in the state.
“As a matter of fact, I thought I was abroad and not in Nigeria. Will you be able to replicate the same achievements if you are appointed as a Minister?”
