LSHA sets up committee to resolve reclamation of land issue
The thorny issue of land reclamation was debated in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Lagos State House of Assembly has set up a committee to look into the issue of reclamation of Land in some areas of Ikoyi constituency of Lagos State.

This followed a complaint brought before the House by Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu representing Etiosa Constituency 1 in Lagos House of Assembly. Hon. Yishawu submitted that residents of Parkview, Osborne Road, and Banana Island complained that the reclamation of Land has caused erosion which resulted in traffic bottle-neck in the areas.

Hon Yishawu also submitted that 5.2 acres of land are being reclaimed by some people. He added that the impact of erosion is high in the Parkview area of Ikoyi, adding that many people have locked up their houses and packed out. He lamented that many houses have collapsed in the area.

He, therefore, appealed to the House to set up a committee that will invite the Ministry of Physical Planning, Environment Ministry, and Ministry of Land to appear before the committee and explain what has caused the reclamation of Land in the area.

The speaker, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa warned that land dealers and buyers should take care and control their activities on land issues.

The speaker, therefore, announced the members of the committee to be headed by Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu.
