Mao Ohuabuwa, a former senator, has stated that it will be an ardous task for the All Progressive Congress [APC] to reverse the announcement of the principal officers made by the national assemby.
The APC leadership expressed concern over the lack of adequate consultation with senate prsident godswill akpabio and speaker of the house of representative Tajudeen Abbas prior to the announcement of the Principal Officers for the 10th National Assembly following the recent result by both the Senate and House of Representatives.
In an interview granted to Channels Television's Politics today, Ohuabunwa shared his thoughts on the possibility of the ruling party annulling the appointments.
He added that it was a difficult task, and that is because it is the decision of the national assembly rather than the party leadership alone. Therefore, overturning the decisions alone will require a motion supported by the National Assembly members,He said.
However, the former senator further praised the newly appointed Principal Officers, noting that they have the qualifications including excellent result record and experience needed to carry out their responsibilities successfully.
Lastly, he expressed his satisfaction with the National Assembly's adherence to the Federal Character Principle in choosing the Principal Officers, ensuring that the 6 geo-political zones were all represented in the top positions.
Currently filling the top Offices includes, Halims Abdulllahi as the Deputy Majority leader, Bello kumo acting in the capacity of the Chief Whip, Adewunmi Onanuga as the Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Simon Davou as the minority leader, Oyewunmi Olarere as the deputy minority leader and so on as were announced by the senate president.
