Pain, the ultimate catalyst.
Pain, the ultimate catalyst.
Life in the real world without pain is quite frankly impossible.

As a youngster, I've always been curious to know why "pain" is even a thing. From the day we are brought into this world, we are automatically prone to pain---both physically and emotionally. Why do we necessarily have to go through pain as humans?

I've always been a fan of action movies and superhero storylines. What I have come to realize is that every one of them went through some sort of pain, trauma or discomfort before becoming who they are. Even with the supervillain arcs, pain is usually associated and is what drives the said character to greatness and indomitability.

Now, back to the real world. Does this mean that we as humans have to go through pain and suffering to achieve our respective potentials? All the great men and women we know today---in one way or the other---went through some level of pain and difficulty to get to where they are. Does this mean that without pain there is no genuine self development and growth? This is especially particular to men as we have to strive for our survival and livelihood. Ask any successful man today how he made it and I assure you that there would be some sort of pain and suffering involved in the process.

People in general associate pain negatively, understandably so because no one likes discomfort or inconvenience. However, I like to view pain as an unlimited amount of power and motivation. Pain is like an endless amount of energy and power accumulated and focused on a singular point waiting to go ballistic. It's up to us to tame this power and put it to good use as it has the power to create and also to destroy. It presents us with two choices; either we take that pain and chisel it into something meaningful or we wallow in self pity. If you ask me, I'll go for the latter.

Belikezeus.
